President Tinubu Praises Liberian Leader George Weah for Honoring Election Results and Upholding Democratic Principles

President Bola Tinubu Extends Congratulations to Liberia for Successful Presidential Election

In a statement from his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu applauds President George Weah for upholding democracy and respecting the will of the people in the recently concluded presidential election. Tinubu also congratulates President-elect Joseph Boakai on securing the mandate of the people.

Weah gracefully conceded defeat after provisional results indicated Boakai's victory by a narrow margin. With 99.58% of ballots counted, Boakai led with 50.89% to Weah's 49.11%, marking a significant shift from their previous election encounter six years ago.

Tinubu calls on the Liberian President-elect to unite the nation and leverage the strong popular support expressed through the ballot box to deliver effective governance. He commends Weah for his uncommon leadership in conceding the election, preventing potential socio-political crises.

The Nigerian president highlights Weah's act of democratic sportsmanship as a positive example, particularly in the face of challenges to democracy in West Africa. Tinubu emphasizes the importance of respecting the people's will and expresses gratitude to the Liberian citizens for their peaceful participation in the democratic process, urging them to continue promoting peace and democracy.
