The Nasarawa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised concerns regarding an incident at its secretariat in Lafia, where it alleges that individuals affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) entered the premises.
The PDP State Chairman, Francis Orogu, expressed these concerns during a press briefing following the party's state executive council meeting in Lafia on Monday.
Orogu urged law enforcement agencies to take action against anyone who is inciting trouble under the guise of supporting political parties in the state. He explained, "Recently, unidentified individuals entered our party's secretariat, claiming to be PDP members, though they have never been seen at any of our party meetings. It was reported that they arrived from Akwanga Local Government Area with a bus and were carrying sticks and other items. Their intentions remain unclear, raising concerns about the potential for any individual to falsely associate themselves with the PDP. We suspect that these individuals may have affiliations with the APC, given the uncertainty surrounding their motives."
Orogu called for a thorough investigation by security agencies and the arrest of anyone found to be causing trouble while masquerading as a political party supporter.
As of the time of preparing this report, attempts to reach the state's APC Publicity Secretary, Douglas Otaru, were unsuccessful, as his mobile phone was not responding.
