Bola Ahmed Tinubu Breaks Ground on $250 Million Lithium Factory in Nasarawa State
In a momentous event, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marked the beginning of the construction of a $250 million lithium factory in Nasarawa State with the inauguration of the Ganfeng Lithium Industry Limited factory in the Endo community of Udege Development Area in Nasarawa Local Government Area. This initiative aligns with his administration's industrialization policy aimed at ensuring ample energy resources for the nation.
Represented by the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, President Tinubu commended Ganfeng for its commitment to federal government policies and assured the company of full government support. He emphasized the end of exporting raw solid minerals from Nigeria, pledging to work with Customs to curb this practice.
The President expressed his support for the creation of a factory producing lithium batteries, anticipating it would enhance the country's products and generate jobs. He pledged to create an enabling environment for Ganfeng's operations nationwide.
The project, set to last 24 months, is expected to create 2,500 direct and indirect job opportunities for Nigerians. President Tinubu believes this endeavor will attract more Chinese investors to Nigeria, boosting the nation's economy.
Governor Abdullahi Sule affirmed Nasarawa State's commitment to supporting investors and facilitating the factory's sustainable growth, expressing gratitude for choosing Nasarawa for this significant project.
Additionally, President of Ganfeng Lithium Industry Limited, Pan Quen, revealed that the mega factory, once completed, would process 18,000 metric tons of lithium per day and 4.5 million metric tons annually.
